ChimneyRx® Masonry Chimney Water Repellent is a modified siloxane based product specifically designed for chimneys to penetrate deeply in to most masonry and concrete pores.
Unlike acrylics, silicones, and other waterproofing sealers that form a film on the surface and trap water vapors, ChimneyRx® masonry waterproofing products allow deep penetration of the active ingredients of up to 1/4 inch or more.
As a result, the special siloxanes in ChimneyRx® Masonry Chimney Water Repellent react to form strong chemical bonds beneath a treated surface. These bonds allow the product to become a physical part of the structure and provide long-lasting water repellent protection without altering the appearance of the brick.
Breathable Masonry Waterproofing Prevents Chimney Water Damage
Moisture, from either internal or external sources, is usually present in brick, masonry, and concrete. A ChimneyRx® Masonry Chimney Water Repellent treatment is 100% vapor permeable, which allows the water vapors to escape. This reduces costly chimney repair such as spalling, scaling, deterioration, and freeze-thaw damage that results from trapped moisture when film-forming water sealers are used. The best way to prevent chimney water damage is by using chimney repair products such as ChimneyRx® penetrating (non film-forming) water repellents that will allow vapors to pass through.
Will yours work with the solvent based chimney saver I’ve used previously?
It cannot be applied over a solvent base sealer.
Will your product work as long as chimney saver? I have applied chimney saver twice to my brick chimney and the results are as advertised. Quite a price difference between the two. Thanks, JMW
Do you apply this with a pump sprayer?
Yes.

About 100-200 sq. feet per gallon.
What is the sq. foot coverage area of a gallon of this product.
Thank you
I would use either. They both do the same.
Which product is best for red brick chimney that seems to be absorbing rain? Is it DEFY Masonry Saver brick Water Repellent or DEFY Chimney RX Masonry Chimney Water Repellent?
This product will not enhance the appearance. Products that enhance are designed for decorative concrete such as pavers and stains. I would not put these type of sealers on a fireplace.
I have a rip rap fireplace (9’X16′). It was built in 1982. I have power washed it. It is not white, it is more of a grey color. I don’t think it has ever been sealed. I would like to seal it to enhance the color. Do you think this is a good idea? Will your product do this? If not, what will?
