Yes.
Great concrete sealer!
We are trying to save a 300 year old brick chimney which is exposed to the interior of a house. Would this product be appropriate? If we were to white wash it, would we use this product before or after that?
You would want this sealer: https://www.deckstain.com/brick-water-repellent.html
Use of a brush for small area
The articles dealing with this product, suggest a sprayer or roller is best for application. The area I want to cover is vertical and consists of fake cement rock. Only about 8 feet high and 3 feet wide. I would like to do this using a stiff brush. Is that something that would work well for this product in this small area.
Is there a specific brush type you can recommend?
I realize spraying is faster and will use that method later for the rest of the wall. But for this small area, I do not want to go to the trouble of masking.
Thanks for the advice and I am ready to purchase.
Robert
It cannot be brushed on. Best to just spray as will cover better and get into the surface better.
We have a long concrete driveway that is 9 years old. It has some small cracks as our soils are clay-based and there is some soil shifting, unfortunately. Should we patch the cracks before using the sealer?
You can do it before or after.
Is there a crack repair product that you carry or recommend?
Sorry but no.
Thanks.
does this affect the slippery conditions of concrete exterior steps in icy and snowy weather. How long should you wait to apply to new concrete of clay bricks
No, it does not make it slippery as it is a penetrating sealer. You can apply now to new concrete.
I’m confused by your reply that Defy can be applied to new concrete. The data sheet:
https://www.deckstain.com/pdf/allpurpose.pdf
says to wait 28 days for curing before applying. Which is correct?
Once the concrete is fully cured, you can seal it.
Is this the best product to use on manufactured stone?
Yes, that is correct.
Would this be the appropriate product for 2′ x 2′ concrete pavers that comprise a patio?
I want a natural, no gloss, no darkening product that prevents against damage and stains
Does this coating make the surface more prone to algae growth (the patio is north facing and shaded)
This will work and it does not promote algae growth.
Can this product be used on slate? The slate in our backyard is starting to delaminate and we’re trying to stop the bleeding…
Yes it can.

Use a roller or sprayer and yes it is the correct product.

Kevin, It should be fine.
We have a Brick fireplace front that gets mildly warm, though not in contact with fire. I have some all purpose Defy Heavy-Duty Water Repellant left over from our house brick front treatment. Can I use this for the fireplace front?
Yes but you want the Defy Brick Water Repellent for this.
My house exterior is all brick. Water penetrates the brick during hard wind driven rains and leaks into lower level.
Will DEFY help?
You would want this product for sealing a garage floor.
Hi,
I’m wanting to treat my garage floor. Would this be the best product or is there another that would be better? I want the best.
Thanks.
We do not sell any concrete stain but a wet look sealer will restore the color as if wet with water. The Defy Paver Sealer will do that.
I have a walkway that is made of pavers (red) and in high traffic areas or areas where the sun constantly beats on them they have faded. Is there a product that can help to restore the color back – a concrete stain?
